One of our favourite resorts to stay at (first in 2011 for Kylie; in 2019 for Janet; and 2021 for NYE), the Luxor pyramid—and its bat-attracting light beam—is one of the most iconic structures on The Strip. The rooms still had tube TVs in 2011—talk about ancient city style!
Although most of the ancient Egyptian theme has been removed over the years, there’s still plenty of sphinxes and hiroglyphs to make it feel special. The wide variety of carpeting (which has been replaced several times over) is mostly geometric circles and floral designs in earthtones—just as they were available to the Ancient Egyptians.
The 2024 refresh of the casino and atrium areas is great. Like New York-New York's new design, they've really taken the casino's ancient Egyptian theme and created a wonderfully bold, graphic, and colourful series of carpets.
Oh—during our stay in December 2021, they attempted to refill the Nile River ride with a burst water pipe from the 16th floor :/ Lots of ruined carpeting!
